Hello and my name is Shannon and this is the latest football news..:
Current manager of Tottenham Hotspur qune-day Ramos has great confidence about tonight’s game against PSV Eindhoven. This is because the club has beaten two major teams Arsenal and Chelsea and they also beat West Ham 4-0 on Sunday .Now that the team have climbed away from their troubles they are training hard, eating well and the results of this were seen as they triumphed to their carling cup victory in February.

Ramos has admitted to training the players mentally as well as physically when he said; “psychology is important, just like technique, tactics, fitness and everything else.” With their captain Ledley King back Ramos and the team have high hopes for a good result for Tottenham Hotspur tonight.

Lorry drivers given safety mirrors to save lives.

London’s lorry drivers are soon to be given new mirrors, to help lower the amount of deaths of London’s cyclists.
Transport for London, intend to give out the apparatus later on this week, with an astounding cost of £40,000. The device will be handed to lorry drivers in the capital.
David Brown, managing director of surface Tfl, said; “Our new cycle safety campaign is designed to give both cyclists and goods vehicle drivers the tools they need to be safe and seen in London’s roads.”
The mayor Ken Livingstone later added; “Cycling in London is getting much safer, but one issue, that has been very difficult to address until now, is the fact more than half of cyclists fatalities on the capital’s roads involve a collision with a goods vehicle. These safety lenses are a simple measure that will help drivers to see cyclists.”

Gladiators Coming Back To TV

Kirsty Galahar and Ian Wright are to present the return of 1990s Saturday night action game show Gladiators.

The ‘gladiator’ show that became very popular in the 1990s is returning to sky 1 with lots of physical games and tasks in May. The original referee John Anderson will return and contestants will be competing to gain a prize of £50,000.
The programme, which ran from 1992 to 2000 on ITV, was originally presented by former weather presenter Ulrika Johnson and ex-footballer John Fashanu.
Sky said that the new program will be given a 21st century makeover.
Ian Wright commented “’gladiators’ is a great show I am thrilled to be involved.
Since people first heard it was coming back, the response has been phenomenal. And I am so excited that a new generation get to experience it."
A brand new line-up of gladiators will be unveiled later this month.
Opinion on the day:
It was fun, I enjoyed it. The best part was when we were searching for information and then writing out our own text.

An Early warning for tube commuters...

An Early warning for tube commuters

Today, workers of London underground have voted to go on strike after a row over safety and of ticket office closures. Then members of the transport salaried staffs’ association union supported the action by 4-1.

There has been a rise of issues including the use of agency staff and of the closure of the ticket offices. The TFL had said that the issues have nothing to do with safety with safety and no jobs are at risk. Also, the Rail Maritime and transport union also have plans to have a vote with its members on the use of agency staff and ticket office closures.

The TSSA’s general secretary, Gerry Doherty has said “The size of the vote clearly demonstrates what our members feel about what they perceive as an attack on safety standards and the casualisation of safety-critical work.” Then he continued to say “We hope that LU now recognise that feeling and will reach a sensible agreement with us which ensures that London has the safest Tube system in the world in the run-up to the Olympic Games in four years' time.”

My thoughts for the day:

I really like today's events. While I was researching, I found alot of interesting stories that I did not know about London before. I think today has taught me alot by helping with my research skills. I found writing the script and a good story very hard. Any other people in Yr. 8 who come here next year have got a great opporunity and will have so much fun!

Tamara's report x.xx0o.

The 27 year old singer Ashanti Douglas, from New York, has just released her long awaited new single called ‘the way that I love you.’ And the video has fast become the most requested video on the famous MTV chart show ‘TLR hits’. The song is from the new album ‘the declaration’ to be released in June this year. Ashanti commented that she was excited to work with a number of new producers on this album.

And it seems like 2008 is going to be a really busy year for the star. She is also starring in
You're Nobody till Somebody Kills You, a forthcoming film directed by Michael Pinckney.
She will be starring alongside Michael Imperioli, Jadakiss and Treach in the hip-hop drama about a New York murder. The filming of the project finished last may but is being released later this year.
I quite enjoyed filming because i did want to be a reported and it was a really fun experiance. But i found reserching the right sites and getting the right information a bit difficult. Because i know so much about this person it was easily to spot what information was real and fake. apart from that it was really fun.

Patrick Swayze 'doing well'

Patrick Swayze ‘doing well’

Hello, this is Kimberly, reporting for the BBC entertainment news for today.

Patrick Swayze, famous for starring in the all time favourites ‘Ghost’ and ‘Dirty Dancing’, is said to be recovering well from his treatment for cancer of the pancreas.

The ‘Dirty Dancing’ actor, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January-, is doing well with his third round of chemotherapy. The 55 years old, is undergoing the medical process to kill cancer cells, but is not yet suffering from any side effects such as hair loss.

Only five per cent of patients survive five years after being diagnosed with this form of cancer.
He has received a lot of comfort from his close friends, family and fellow actors. While he’s having his treatment, he’s still continuing his filming schedule. He is working on two films due to be released later this year.

I felt scared but also excited because this is the first time i'm going on TV. It is a great experience for me because i'm actually thinking if I enjoy it, I might do it in the future.
Writing the article is ok, it's not that easy as you think. It is challenging, but i'm sure you'll enjoy if you had a chance. Before the filming, i felt really scared and i didn't want to see myself and hear myself actually, because i just realised that it's gonna be shown to the whole world. The experience of actually filming it, is really embarrasing, but i enjoyed it.

Rihanna-New Album and Love Life

Hello this is samie reporting for entertainment on BBC news.
She started as a sixteen year old female bringing us the hit song ‘pon de replay’. And Fresh out of Barbados Rihanna has continued to make number one hit songs. But her latest album, ‘good girl gone bad’, has not been doing to well in America and has only sold a reported 160,000 copies.
Rihanna said she will not be releasing another album until 2009 but, on a personal note, things seem to be looking up for the 20 year old star who has been seen out with singer Chris Brown on a number of occasions.
Yes, the two have finally showed the world that they are an item after being seen together in Jamaica cuddling by a pool and have been pictured together many times since. And although some of Rihanna’ s songs haven’t done as well as expected, who knows what she will bring in 2009?

This experience was really good and fun, i enjoyed doing my own news although i found it quite hard writing it.I was really scared about gettin filmed but found it fun!!! i liked this day alot!!! hope every 1 else did!!

The body of Michael Todd, chief constable of Manchester police, was found at a bottom of a cliff near Bwlch Glas Mountain, yesterday.

It is suspected that he committed suicide because of problems in his private life. After hearing this, his family was devastated, although they believe his death was caused by his falling off a mountain in Snowdon not suicide.

It is reported that Todd, the married father of three, had another relationship with a female police officer.
There are also reports that someone tried to sell a ‘damning story’ to ‘bring down a top copper’ to the paper last week. This was suggested to be one of the reasons why he committed suicide. Dave Whatton, deputy chief constable of Manchester said Mr Todd’s death was a ‘tragic shock’, he also said ‘As you can imagine, all of his friends and colleagues are extremely upset. Our hearts and thoughts are with his family’.

Rubbish Planee *&&* The Mircale Dolphin

Hello, I’m Tia reporting from CLC south Camden school. Today, a Chinese builder successfully completed his creation of an aeroplane made completely out of rubbish! It has taken him around 15 years to complete. The plane is approximately 2.2m and 7.3ft in height. The name of the creator is unknown but he has become well known in china for his creation. The aeroplane is tin-like and has red graphical Chinese writing printed on the side. He has even made a matching staircase so that you can board the plane. The creator seem to be proud of his creation as he let lots of fascinated people take pictures of him standing next to his creation.
In New Zealand, reports state that a dolphin named Moko has guided two pygmy sperm whales from death. The two whales, a mother and her baby were found on the Mahia beach on Monday morning .The whales were distressed and they were calling to one another until the dolphin came. As soon as the dolphin appeared the two whales made their way to the sea and followed her. The owners of Moko were amazed at the fact that the whales were never seen after that. Shortly after, Moko guided them to outer sea; she returned safely and joined in the water games with local residents.
My thoughts and feelings;
I thought the day was fun and interesting =] I learnt alOt about the news and how to produce a international report. I researched different stories and produced a report about two fascinating stories i found. The only thing i felt that was difficult was that i had to try and find a convincing story to make the audience want to read it. Today was a day to remember and i hope to do it againn...and any one in the futuree would be lucky to come to this trip themselves....Anywho xD xx Peacee Out =]

Tiger numbers halve during the last 25 years

The world’s tiger population could have halved over the last 25 years.

The WWF told a conference in Stockholm that there might only be 3,500 tigers left.
One of the biggest threats are that the Chinese use tiger parts as a part of traditional medicine, but the WWF says that if proper measures are taken tiger numbers could rise.

today was great the most difficult thing was finding the info.

Bob Marley and thousands of other reggae artist’s records are missing!!!!!

A huge collection of 1970’s music has gone missing. The list of missing items includes some of Bob Marley’s classic hits! The records disappeared from the former Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation. The theft of all these records has been described as a blow to the country’s history. Former JBC employees and musicians have criticized the government for not taking proper care of the records. Earlier this week while touring the old JBC building, workers noticed that the records had gone missing.

cheltenham festival cancelled

CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL CANCELLED

Due to England’s very stormy weather, the second day of the Cheltenham festival has been cancelled.
Strong winds have made the marquees unsafe for people to be near, this making it one of the main reasons to cancel.
55,000 people were scheduled to attend the exciting event,
However, were disappointed when their tickets would not be valid on Thursday or Friday, even though they would receive 100% refund.
The last time there had been a cancellation, was at the 2001 festival when the whole thing was put off because of a foot and mouth outbreak.
The managing director, Edward Gillespie has explained ‘on Tuesday night we had a forecast indicating wind speeds with gusts of over 50 mph up to and including Wednesday afternoon.’
He then later said that temporary facilities may not be safe.

On the bright side, the races that were scheduled for Wednesday will be on the following days.
I HAD A GREAT TIME, THIS WAS A BRILLIANT EXPERIENCE, THAT I WILL NEVER FORGET. THE HARD PART, WAS FINDING A HARD STORY THAT PEOPLE WOULD BE INTERESTED IN . I LOVED IT!

british airways expansion of stansted

British air ways have decided to expand Stanstead airport since it has had a rise in passengers over the last year. This idea has been supported by the British government who will provide £2.7 billion. If the plans go ahead it will be double sized by 2015 and serving 6 million people by 2030. it will provide up to 13,000 jobs . Uttlesford planning officers are worried what effect it will have on noise levels. A group called Stop the Stanstead expansion claim it would ruin 1,000 acres of countryside. a parish council now wants to sue claiming compensation for people living in parishes around Stanstead. In the past the stop Stanstead expansion stood outside and protested "We are showing BAA that we are going to be the biggest thorn in their side," said one of the protesters to the press. Their will be more updates of this in 10 o’clock news

Weather Forecast

Today, the weather will be rather temperamental, with heavy rain and gales in Wales, England and Northern Ireland that is expected to reach 80mph so remember your brollie and wrap up warm!
It will be mostly windy in the south east and gradually getting rainier throughout the day. In the south west pretty much the same, some light showers and little sunshine. Slightly up north, much more rain, especially in Liverpool and Manchester. The weather is getting slightly better in Cornwall and Devon after the devastating storm. Going up north to Scotland, a bit more sunshine than in England, but as always a few gloomy showers make things worse. Tomorrow, mostly the same, showers, wind and occasional sunshine.
In international weather, quite sunny in Athens, same in Barcelona and Rome. But in Madrid, Sydney and Pristina in Kosovo-which is now independent-there’s really something to celebrate about with the warm sunshine. In other countries such as Russia, cold and rain, and occasional snow is what it’s all about.

I think this is a really good experience for future journalists.

National News

Website launched to help find Shannon

A website has been launched to help find Shannon Matthews who has now been missing for three weeks. The website was launched last night during a sponsored walk beginning at Moorside community house, Dewsbury. The walk was hosted to mark the three weeks of the nine-year-olds disappearance. The money raised will go towards making more leaflets, public meetings and in general more publicity.

A Leeds-based web design group called No Worries has happily volunteered to design and launch the website for free. The website has a brief but detailed description of Shannon, it will keep people up-to- date on police reports and will also provide information on how to support the family and its appeal. The website is http://www.helpfindshannon.org.uk/. If anybody has any information on the whereabouts of Shannon or has seen a girl matching her description, please call 01274 373737 or text 07786200806. The numbers and any other contact details are also featured on the website.
